Hiring a translator: what to expect from our collaboration

Collaborating with a freelance translator is somewhat different to outsourcing to a translation agency, and each translator has its own terms. Here is an overview of what steps to expect when working with me.

  1. You contact me by email or through LinkedIn.

In your message, please briefly describe your brand and translation needs (subject matter, volume, audience, timeline…) so I can prepare for our next step.

  2. We set up a call or continue our discussion via email to explore your needs further.
The more I understand about your project, the better my work will be. I'll ask questions about your brand, target audience, tone of voice, and SEO approach as relevant. As a professional translator, I'm bound by confidentiality obligations, and I'm happy to sign an NDA if your project requires additional protection.

  3. We agree on pricing and terms.
Based on the information you provided, I'll send you a detailed quote and service agreement. Pricing will be either a fixed rate for the complete project or an hourly rate, depending on the project scope.

  4. Your project is in good hands.
You can rest assured that nothing will be left to chance. To ensure this, I might ask additional questions before and/or after the initial work phase (e.g., translation, SEO research, writing…). This Q&A step is essential for delivering quality results.

  5. Your project lands in your inbox.

Once you receive the final deliverables, please review them carefully. As outlined in our agreement, revisions can be implemented within a set timeframe.

  6. Payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date.
Please note that a down payment may be requested for larger projects.
